So you want to improve your skin, but you don’t even know where to start. Who blames you? With so many different types and approaches to skin care and treatments, where do you start? Instead of spending hours researching online or diagnosing yourself, why not take the time to get a professional skin analysis. Here at Silk Touch, we offer VISIA skin analysis.
Through state-of-the-art imaging digital photography, VISIA documents and evaluates the skins texture, wrinkles, pores and pigmentation. This analysis includes comparison of individuals skin conditions, characteristics of the same sex, age, and ethnicity. It helps to guide you in the right direction of skin care treatments and measurements for tracking future progress.
A Visia imaging session uses multi-spectral imaging and analysis to capture key visual information for six areas affecting complexion health and appearance: wrinkles, spots, evenness, evidence of bacterias in pores, and UV spots.
Once Visia has analyzed your skin, it provides you with a wealth of information, including comparisons of your own skin to people of the same sex, age and skin type. This comprehensive information enables us to present the optimal treatments and regimens which are right for you. A printed report which you can take home provides details of your imaging session and recommended rejuvenation and skin care options.
Are you interested in a Visia Skin Analysis? If so, please contact us to set up an appointment. We can’t wait to hear from you!
This week we want to share an article with you from DailyBeauty.com. The author, Shellie Terry Benson, did a wonderful job of explaining how to keep your knees looking great and youthful.
Silk Touch Med Spa offers Smartlipo technologies that can change the look of your knees dramatically. Check out our previous blog post on knee liposuction to learn more.
The Key to Beautiful Knees
Posted Monday, March 12, 2012 by Shellie Terry Benson, Editor
They’re often forgotten about, your lowly knees, until you slip on the first skirt of the spring or a pair of shorts in the summer. Dry skin may make them look ashy, while age or weight loss may make them look saggy. And though they may seem difficult to fix, your knees can look pretty again. (Remember when Demi Moore shocked the world with her new knees?) Here are a few ways to get your knees ready for the warmer weather:
Exfoliate: The skin on your knees is thicker than other areas to offer extra protection to your joints (the same is true of your elbows), so dryness can accumulate there. Choose an exfoliator that’s appropriate for your skin type (go for a more gentle formula if you have sensitive skin). Massage it into your skin using a circular motion and rinse. Exfoliate to remove the dry, dead skin cells twice a week, but no more than that, or you may be sloughing healthy skin away.
Moisturize: Every day, use a deeply hydrating moisturizer on your knees to lock in moisture. You may even want to use a body oil first (Avene Body Oil ($20) makes a wonderful one for very dry, sensitive skin). For super dry skin, moisturize twice a day.
Banish fat: Liposuction can help sculpt better-looking knees by removing unnecessary fat. The incision can be strategically placed at the knee or at the groin if you also want your thighs treated. But keep in mind, surgeries that are further away from the heart take longer to heal.
Try some light: Non-invasive cellulite and skin-tightening treatments such as radio-frequency energy or infra-red light, paired with massaging devices may improve slightly sagging skin around the knees.
Smooth the skin: Speculation was that Demi Moore had a knee lift to remove the sagging skin around her knees. The treatment is tricky because to surgically remove the skin, a scar will eventually develop. Ask your plastic surgeon for before-and-after photos of other cases so you’re well aware of what results may be.
See the difference for yourself - here are some before and after photos of Silk Touch clients who have received this treatment:
Our previous blog on the DIY Oatmeal Honey Face Mask got such great feedback from our readers, that we want to continue to share with you fun skin care routines you can do at home in between facials at Silk Touch.
We searched the web, asked our friends and clients for the best DIY skin care treatments and we are happy to share with you the two winners – Green Tea Facial Scrub and At-Home Pore Strips! Even better – we were able to find Youtube tutorials for each of them, that way you can learn to make them even easier!
Green Tea Facial Scrub
DIY Pore Strips
While these are great “in-between” treatments, theycould never replace the benefits you see by getting a professional facial or chemical peel.

How to Prepare
Shave the night before or day of your treatment
What's the Pain Factor?
The pulsed light in laser hair removal feels like a rubber band popping against your skin, although some machines perform differently. Not every zap will hurt and I've found some areas (lower legs) hurt more than others (thighs).
How Long Do They Take?
4-10 treatments on average are needed. Normally with a 6-8 week break in between treatments.
What It'll Cost You
Laser hair removal cost varies depending on the area of the body. We pride ourselves in offering affordable prices and we recognize that this is a substantial investment. We don’t want it to be just a rich-man’s luxury.
At Silk Touch, our goal is to provide affordable treatment to “the many” rather than expensive treatments to “a few”. Our treatments start at $75 for a small area to $1500+ for a larger areas. This hair removal cost includes multiple treatments.
