Exercise and a healthy diet can do wonders for the body, but sometimes certain areas of stubborn fat are hard to get rid of. One area, in particular, being the submental fat under the chin, often referred to as the “double-chin.” At Silk Touch Cosmetic Surgery & Medspa we offer two different procedures to help target the unwanted fat in this area to help you look and feel your best. These two procedures are Liposuction and Kybella.
Neck Liposuction
At Silk Touch, we use Power-Assisted Liposuction (PAL) for our neck liposuction procedure. This is done by using a cannula with a vibrating tip that is able to break down fat into smaller pieces, making it easier and more convenient to remove with suction. The key to our success is the use of a small cannula to facilitate sculpting and diminish the potential for tunneling and contour irregularities. In individuals who have laxity, we also do ThermiTight, which uses radio frequency energy to stimulate skin tightening and thickening. Neck lipo can be performed within a couple of hours and only requires a local anesthetic. Recovery time can take a few weeks, but patients may return to normal activities within a few days. Many patients see results almost immediately, though final results may take 3 to 6 months to be seen.
Kybella
Kybella is the only FDA approved injectable to get rid of fat and improve the appearance of submental fullness. Since this treatment is non-surgical, there is minimal to no downtime. Kybella is a formulation of deoxycholic acid, which is a naturally occurring substance in the body. This substance helps break down and absorb dietary fat when synthesized. The treatment itself is relatively fast—between 15 to 20 minutes—but multiple treatments can be required. Slight swelling can last anywhere between 4 to 7 days after each Kybella injection.
Which Treatment is Right For You?
Both Neck Lipo and Kybella can be great options for individuals looking to treat that stubborn neck fat. When deciding which treatment is best for you, it comes down to personal preference and what the doctor suggests. We require all patients to schedule a complimentary consultation. This consultation allows us to decide what the best treatment plan is for you.
