What Is DOT Therapy?

DOT Therapy is an innovative skin resurfacing treatment that uses the SmartXide DOT CO2 Laser System. This treatment precisely removes thin layers of skin, which tightens the skin and stimulates collagen production. The results—rejuvenated, younger looking skin.

How Does It Works?

During the SmartXide DOT CO2 Laser treatment a pattern of small scanned pulses of laser energy is applied to your skin. Thousands of microscopic perforations are created that stimulate skin tightening and collagen growth. DOT Therapy leaves the skin surrounding each dot intact, speeding up healing times and decreasing downtime. Each treatment is customized to your skin by the doctor and adjustments are made depending on the area being treated. A topical anesthesia is applied prior to the treatment to help with any discomfort.

Who Is A Good Candidate?

The CO2 laser is great for individuals who experience signs of sun-damaged skin. This may show itself in pigment irregularities, wrinkles, skin laxity and sagging, and roughness in skin texture. This treatment is also great for those who have stretch marks or acne scars. CO2 DOT Laser Resurfacing can be done on most skin types and can treat skin types of all ages.

What Results Can I Expect?

There’s a reason this treatment has been referred to as the “Gold Standard'' for non-surgical facial rejuvenation and removal of facial skin wrinkles and photoaging since 1995. Though improvements have been made, the results are still the same. You can expect a significant improvement in the appearance of your skin, and the treatment has even been said to give the appearance of a mini facelift without incisions. CO2 DOT Laser Resurfacing stimulates the production of collagen while tightening the skin which creates long lasting results with just one treatment.

Additional Benefits:

  • Reverses the appearance of aged and sun-damaged skin
  • Improves texture and firmness
  • Smooths wrinkles and lines
  • Renews your skin
  • Downtime adjustable by a physician

Top 3 Reasons Why You Should Add Vitamin C to Your Skin Care Regimen

Posted by Silk Touch Cosmetic Surgery on Feb 25, 2021 11:05:45 AM

If you are looking to step up your skincare routine this year, Vitamin C is the product ingredient that does it all. Vitamin C can be found in many products, but most commonly it is used in serums. Regardless of your age or skin type, Vitamin C has many benefits that can help you achieve your skin goals.

Here are the top 3 reasons you should add Vitamin C to your product regimen:

  • Protects against the sun:

As an antioxidant, Vitamin C is a high performing skin care product that promotes the skin’s regeneration process and neutralizes what is known as free radicals that may be harmful to the skin. Free radicals are atoms missing an electron that are looking to steal an extra electron from another atom. This can lead to skin damage and wrinkles. An example of a free radical Vitamin C protects against is the sun’s UV rays. Though it is not a sunscreen substitute, Vitamin C can work in tandem with sunscreen to provide extra protection.

  • Evens out skin tone

Vitamin C is known to reduce redness and inflammation to provide a more even skin tone. It contains properties that hinder melanin production in the skin which can cause dark spots and hyperpigmentation. If used topically on a consistent basis, Vitamin C can prevent the formation of dark spots in the first place, as well as fade ones that already exist. This helps give the skin a brighter and more youthful glow.

  • Prevents aging by promoting collagen production:

Collagen is a natural occurring protein that is important for the skin because it has properties that help plump, firm, and promote healing. Over time, collagen levels begin to deplete. Because Vitamin C boosts collagen production, it helps reduce skin sagging as well as the development of fine lines and wrinkles. The results are a more youthful complexion that stops premature aging.

If you’re looking to add Vitamin C into your skincare routine we have products such as the Silk Touch RX Potent C Cream that can do just the trick. 5 Solutions for Sun Damaged Skin

Posted by Sara Barrett on Apr 28, 2016 11:43:00 AM

SunDamBlog

Although you can’t turn back the clock and abstain from the sun in the past, you can erase some of the damage that was done. Professional skin care treatments can help remove the skin’s damaged outer layers to diminish sun spots and encourage the growth of new, healthy collagen to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

1. Chemical peels.

Chemical peel treatments are a good option for bringing new life to sun-damaged skin. These peels utilize various solutions and strengths for different treatment levels and results. At Silk Touch Med Spa, our medical aestheticians customize the chemical peel treatment for each client, along with planning a structured treatment regimen. Most light-to-medium peels will require at least 3-6 treatments over a three-month period to see the best results.
Chemical peelscan vary in strength, ranging from very minor solutions that require little to no downtime, to stronger peels that may require a few days to heal. Make sure to discuss any upcoming events or work restrictions with your aesthetician.

2. Intense pulsed light (IPL) photofacial.

IPL treatments have become very popular as a tool to erase sun spots and fine lines. An IPL photofacial uses a series of gentle light pulses that target the pigment present in sun spots, as well as other color irregularities. As the light travels through the layers of skin, heat from the light causes damage to the abnormally pigmented areas. This will kick-start the body’s natural healing process. The spot will either become darker and flake off, or it will be naturally absorbed by the body. IPL photofacials also stimulate collagen growth to reduce fine lines.
For the average client, three-to-five IPL photofacial treatments are required for best results, and most clients can be treated as frequently as every three weeks. Throughout the course of the treatment process, you can expect to see improved skin texture and a smoother, more even complexion.

3. C02 Fractional laser.

Dot Therapy skin before after1 300x232For a more aggressive treatment for sun damage, there are  C02 fractional laser procedures. A C02 treats sun spots, wrinkles and fine lines with the use of a laser beam that is split (fractionated) into thousands of microscopic beams of light energy. The pixilated light penetrates the dermis and generates enough heat to stimulate natural collagen production and new cell growth. In addition to reducing the appearance of sun damage, fractional lasers can also help treat acne scars, stretch marks and melasma.
Most clients will see results after one to two treatments.

4. Pelleve Radiofrequency.

Treatments that harness the power of radiofrequency waves are also very effective for helping remove sun spots, reduce wrinkles and tighten skin. A Pelleve radiofrequency treatment works by sending heat energy into the dermal layer of the skin to stimulate the production of collagen. Unlike lasers, Pelleve treatments rely on the absorption of radio waves and not light, which makes these services safe for all skin tones.
Pelleve is also great in combonation with IPL's for both skin tightening and sun spot reduction. This month get a free Pelleve Eye Treatment with a purchase of your IPL Series. Click here to learn more about this special offer

5. Products Containing Hydroquinone.

Hydroquinone is a topical treatment used to lighten skin. It works by inhibiting the production of tyrosinase, which is an enzyme that helps to produce melanin.
When used alone, hydroquinone treatments may not show visible results for several weeks. To see faster results and improve the effectiveness of this treatment, you can combine hydroquinone with a regimen of chemical peels and/or light-based procedures.
At Silk Touch we carry a wide range of products that can help improve the appearance of sun damaged Skin. We suggest scheduling a  Complimentary Skin Analysis to determine which customized product regimen will be most effective for you.

Skin Care Boise! New Skin Care Treatments for Sun Damaged Skin!

Posted by Susan Kerr on Feb 14, 2014 12:04:00 PM

Sun Damaged Skin Gone!

SILK TOUCH Rx Medicated Skin Care, Boise You want amazing skin right?  We do too!  In 2010 I wanted to find a way to bring our clients the best ingredients possible. Having been in the skin care business for over 11 years, I was familiar with a lot of different brands of skin care products and I wanted nothing but the best for myself and our clients.  So, I flew to Denver with Tiffany, our head aesthetician, and we participated in a two-day conference where we were instructed by an industrial chemist who specializes in dermatology products and medical grade skin care systems.

We were on a mission!  We wanted to know what the best ingredients were, why they worked and in what combination.  At Silk Touch Med Spa we have always tried to provide the very highest grade skin care products available;  Vivete by Allergan, Epionce, Revision, etc.

But now, we wanted the best of the best, and to show our confidence in the products we've chosen, we have put our own Silk Touch name on them.   Thus, Silk Touch Rx Medicated Skin Care was born.

Our heavy hitter is our Vitamin A product line.  Why?  Because we mix the Vitamin A right into the moisturizer at our Med Spa, thus giving you the highest potency and efficacy available.  You have to see the difference to believe it!

These BEFORE AND AFTER PHOTOS are of Mariah, our Medical Aesthetician who started using the Silk Touch Rx Vitamin A product because of sun damaged skin and texture issues.  The Before and After photos were taken using our Visia Digital Photo Analysis.

Another heavy hitter, is our  Silk Touch Rx Skin Lightening Peel.  Melasma is very difficult to treat, but look at the photos above and see the amazing results!

Our client above was terribly sunburned as a young girl and developed melasma. Unfortunately the photos were taken with different cameras and the lighting and coloring are quite different, but you can see in the 2nd photo her melasma has faded almost entirely.  She has no makeup on except for a little lip gloss.

The melasma patient had done many procedures including Microdermabrasion, Chemical Peels, and IPLtreatments with no success.  When we found the formulation for our skin lightening peel we called her up and said, "Let's do this for you free of charge!"  She had a few days of down time and had to use an at-home skin care system for a few weeks, but just a month later, Shazaam!  Look at her now!!!!!   Aren't her results amazing???

“I have now, at age 60, the best skin of my life since I’ve been coming to Silk Touch Med Spa and seeing Tiffany who helped develop a treatment plan for me. I am so thrilled because when I was a teen, my face was a field of pimples. It was awful for many years and left scars, mainly on my cheeks. So far, I’ve had  two IPLs (intense pulsed light)  and 2 chemical peels and what a difference they have made! I can go without makeup for the first time in my life because I have no pimples, scars, blotches, brown spots, etc. that I’d ordinarily have to cover up. Friends and even people I don’t know remark at how good my skin looks. I’m often told I don’t look at all my age. The treatments have given me a very youthful glow, smooth, even skin tone, skin tightening (a real plus) and kept wrinkles at bay. I am so thrilled. Thank you Tiffany and Silk Touch. I look better now than I ever have, truly. ”
