1. Fillers and Injectables

Once you notice one wrinkle, it seems like all you can notice are wrinkles! They are one the first signs of aging, and by far the most requested aging mark to “make disappear”. Guess who's had a nose job?   

Walk down the streets of any big city and I bet you will encounter over 100 people who have had a nose job. It is one of the most common changes people make to their face when getting plastic surgery.

While the American Society of Plastic Surgeons reports a drop in rhinoplasty procedures, there has been an increase in alternative rhinoplasty treatments. 

Traditional Rhinoplasty can be quite expensive. On top of that, it might involve numerous revisions and it requires a long recovery period – during which your face is screaming to the world “I just had a nose job!!!”

 Dermal fillers have changed the cosmetic surgery playing field.  Often you can correct a nose for less in no time by just injecting a favorite filler like Radiesse or Juvederm.  Some doctors prefer using a Fat Transfer using your own fat.  If you want something more permanent, Artefill is the only long lasting filler-- lasting 5 years or more.   Forget the anesthesia, the packing and the sutures – instead the only tools needed are a syringe and dermal fillers. A lot less gruesome than anything you see on Nip-Tuck.

The only downside to non-surgical rhinoplasty is that unlike a traditional nose job, the results are not permanent for life.  Be wary of places offering unbelievably low prices for liposuction or body procedures (such as Groupon and Living Social), as it may reflect on the quality of liposuction you receive and the experience of the technician. One of the most common questions I receive here at Silk Touch when meeting with patients is "How Do I get rid of these huge bags under my eyes?. "I always look so tired when I'm not, why do I have these bags ALL the time." "Do I have to get surgery to fix this?"

The appearance of under-eye “bags” can be due to a number of factors. Sometimes it is a bit of under-eye fat bulging through, sometimes it is fat loss in the tear trough area below the lower eyelid. Sometimes it is just the way your eyes are anatomically. Usually it is a combination of all of these.

Some people are genetically more predisposed to these things, some less. Time, smoking, drinking and lack of sleep all contribute as well.

If it bothers you, be sure to find out about all of your options, not just the surgical ones. There are ways of minimizing the appearance of some under eye “bags” using filler injections and topicals. This is a lot less risky, painful and expensive than surgery, if you are a good candidate.
