Chemical peels, like our glycolic acid peel, work by exfoliating the skin to remove dead skin cells and deep cleaning your pores. Not only does this peel help reduce the formation of acne, but it can also improve your skin’s texture, leaving you with more refreshed, glowing skin. In addition to helping treat acne, depending on the type of chemical peel, peels can also address anti-aging concerns and irregular pigmentation. At Silk Touch we offer a large selection of chemical peel solutions in a variety of strengths that can be customized to treat your skin type and specific skin concerns.

Chemical Peels types we offer:

  • Glycolic Acid
  • Salicylic Acid
  • Lactic Acid
  • Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA)
  • Variety of Epionce Peels

Before you turn to medication to fight off your maskne, give chemical peels a try! Book a complimentary Visia Skin Care Analysis with one of our skilled medical aestheticians to find out what peel is right for you.

Will Latisse Change My Eye Color?

Posted by Sara Barrett on Oct 19, 2020 12:00:00 AM

Who doesn’t want long, full and dark eyelashes? Most women we know desire those lashes that actually make you look younger! Sure, you could put 10 coats of mascara on to try to achieve that length, but ultimately you’ll just end up with a lumpy, clumpy mess. Ask any staff member here at Silk Touch how we get keep our lashes healthy and long and you will get the answer, “With Latisse, of course!”

If you’re not familiar with Latisse, it is a prescription treatment that helps eyelashes grow longer, thicker, and darker by applying a thin line of the product to the upper eyelid, at base of your eyelashes.

latisse

It is important to use Latisse as directed. It is a once-a-day topical medication to be applied directly above the upper lash line. Be sure to use a clean brush each time and don’t allow excess liquid to seep into your eye. With regular, daily use, full results are seen at 16 weeks, but noticeable growth is seen in as little as 8 weeks. When this medication is stopped, expect the appearance of the eyelashes to return to the way they looked before starting treatment.

Will Latisse change the color of my eyes?

NO!

The same ingredient in Latisse (bimatoprost ophthalmic solution), is in another Allergan product, Lumigan, used to treat glaucoma. For glaucoma patients, one to two drops of Lumigan are placed directly into the eye four to six times a day. That’s up to 12 times the amount used on the lashes with Latisse. Approximately one percent of glaucoma patients using the drops in their eyes experienced a darkening of the pigment of the iris. That is where the “buzz” about Latisse turning blue eyes brown started.

When the iris changed color in this small percentage of glaucoma patients, it did not magically happen overnight. Instead, the color slowly changed, starting around the edge of the pupil and moving outward.

So in theory, does Latisse have the potential to darken the iris? Theoretically yes, but in all the clinical trials for Latisse, no cases were ever reported.

Right now all products, including Latisse are 15% off at Silk Touch! Give us a call at 208-939-3110 to purchase. We are open for in person product pick up, but please remember to wear your mask in the building. Thank you!

Does Microneedling Hurt?

Posted by Silk Touch Medical Aesthetics on Oct 1, 2020 1:20:00 PM

When it comes to new treatments - it's one of the first things we want to know - does it hurt? What will it feel like?It can be nerve wracking getting any new treatment, especially when you have no idea what to expect.

Microneedling is one that sounds a lot scarier than it actually is (it's not like "needling" sounds relaxing) The big question we always get is- Does Microneedling hurt?

before-and-after-microneedling-silktouch-med-spa-290x300

Does Microneedling Hurt During The Treatment?

The answer? Yes, WITHOUT numbing. But luckily with topical numbing cream the treatment is much more comfortable and at the worst mildly uncomfortable on more sensitive areas. Microneedling feels like a deep exfoliation, a little like sandpaper. It can also feel tingly/tickly from the vibrations of the needle.

Another thing that affects the pain tolerance is how DEEP or aggressive the treatment is. Microneedling depth is adjustable based on your skin type & overall treatment goals. More aggressive treatments are more painful, and have longer dowtime. But on the other side you results quicker and can treat more stubborn texture issues like scarring.

Does Microneedling Hurt After?

What does Microneedling feel like after your treatment is over and the numbing wears off? After a Microneedling treatment your skin will feel a little sensitive and tight, similar to a sunburn. Depending on the depth of your treatment, most redness and sensitivity disappears within 24-48 hours. With more superficial microneedling treatments patients can expect redness to disappear by the end of the day.

It's important to follow all post-treatment protocols given to you by your technician. This will help your skin heal faster as well as maximize your results.

Will Botox Make My Wrinkles Worse?

Posted by Silk Touch Medical Aesthetics on Jul 1, 2020 2:16:00 PM

Wrinkle relaxers like Botox, Dysport and Xeomin are the most popular treatment choices for those looking to reduce wrinkles and keep a smooth forehead. However, there are a lot of misconceptions and myths about this product. One concern or questions patients often have is: will Botox make my wrinkles worse if I choose to stop treatments?

Botox11

Will Botox Make My Wrinkles Worse?

Botox or any neurotoxin will not make your wrinkle worse should you choose to stop treatments. Your features will return to exactly how they were before starting Botox treatments, and the natural aging process will continue from there. Movement will also return to normal.

Botox treatments need to be repeated every 3 months to maintain optimal results. Is your wrinkle relaxer not lasting like it used to? Talk to your provider about what the proper dosage is for maintaining your results as long as possible. Your dosage should be unique to you and your anatomy.

Ready to get started with Botox? Our expert injectors are among the top providers of Botox in the northwest, injecting more fillers & neurotoxins than anyone in the state of Idaho! In the hands of experts, you'll never leave looking phony or fake.

Is it Harder for Older Moms To Get Their Pre-Baby Body Back?

Posted by Sara Barrett on May 19, 2020 11:55:00 AM

Why Older Moms Have A Harder Time Getting Their Pre-Baby Body Back and How To Combat This.

It’s no secret that as we age, it becomes more difficult to maintain our dream body. Add a pregnancy on top of aging, and it can feel like it’s nearly impossible to get your pre-baby body back. This got me wondering, why is it harder for older woman to regain their body post-pregnancy?

As discussed in a recent article on NewBeauty.com, the main thing for older patients is that the elasticity of the tissues is not as good. Because of this, the skin on the breasts and abdomen that has stretched may not snap back asynchronous as it would in a younger patient. This makes sense considering the loss of skin elasticity is what causes wrinkles and sagging skin. But elasticity isn’t the only culprit. Another effect of later pregnancies is that our metabolism is a bit slower and muscle mass has diminished, so dropping the baby weight is much tougher to accomplish.

Most people agree that “having good genes” is the best way to bounce back. But don’t lose hope, there are several ways you can give your post-baby body a fighting chance.

Apart from genetics, the next best thing is to be in the best shape you can be before your pregnancy. The more energetic, fit and vital a woman is before pregnancy, the faster she will recover and regain all that she can of her pre-pregnancy body.  After you have the okay from your doctor to start working out again after giving birth, the key is to be consistent with your workouts. Workouts that will help your body bounce back quicker include core strength, cardiovascular training and overall full body strength training.

As for your skin, try to limit the amount of time you spend in the sun because it breaks down elasticity. Additionally, practicing good skin care on your body and face can boost your elasticity.

However, even with proper exercise and healthy eating habits, it’s still pretty tough to get your body back to where you want it to be. And usually the last thing you want to after a pregnancy is to go through anything invasive and surgical. That’s where non-surgical post-pregnancy procedures like CoolsculptingVenus Freeze Skin TighteningAffirm for stretch-mark reduction, and Acne/Skin Treatments, come in handy.

Each of these treatments are non-invasive, and get you back to your pre-baby body in no time, with ZERO downtime! Want to learn more about these procedures? Ask us a question or Schedule A Free Consultation.

What's your post-pregnancy experience? Would you have a mommy makeover?

Transformation Tuesday: Smartlipo Male Chest and Abdomen

Posted by Sara Barrett on Feb 18, 2020 9:27:00 AM

This patient came to us wanting help in getting rid of the unwanted fat on his chest and abdomen. As men age and testosterone naturally decreases, it is increasingly harder to lose weight in the midsection.

The treatment:

Dr. Kerr used a combination of Smartlipo and Vaser liposuction to remove unwanted fat and sculpt the chest and abdomen to look proportionate to his physique.

This patient felt stuck at their current weight, despite going to the gym. Dr. Kerr was able to reduce the fat around his abdomen and appearance of gynecomastia (enlarged breast tissue on men) using Smartlipo and Vaser. The result? A flatter, more sculpted look.

By helping this patient get to his goal weight, he is now able to continue to workout and tone his new body even more.
