Transformation Tuesday: Thigh Liposuction

Posted by Silk Touch Medical Aesthetics on Feb 5, 2019 2:18:00 PM

Thighs can be one of the toughest areas to slim down, especially after losing a substantial amount of weight. Like many lipo cases, this patient came to us wanting to slim her inner and outer thighs.  She was tired of the rubbing in between the inner thighs – and was ready for her pants to fit perfectly on both her waist and thighs.  Living with a pear shape since a young age, she was ready for a change.

Treatment: Smartlipo + Vaser Liposuction for Thighs

liposuction thighs before and after

Dr. Kerr used liposculpture to reshape the inner and outer thighs. This unique approach smooths out legs by removing fat – giving an over all shapelier, firmer and younger looking legs. This non-invasive liposuction can also help diminish the appearance of cellulite. When both inner and outer thighs are treated, Dr. Kerr can address the fullness under the buttocks to create not only attractive legs, but also improving the look of the buttocks.

Liposuction for the inner or outer thighs is a quick in-office procedure, with minimal downtime.  Most patients return to normal activity within 3 days.

The end result? Less jiggle, better-fitting clothes, and firmer thighs.

New Uses For PDO Threads

Posted by Silk Touch Medical Aesthetics on Jan 31, 2019 9:45:46 PM

We love PDO threads in the face. They can provide a subtle lift to the lower face to reduce jowls and smile lines. They provide lift to the cheeks, reduce wrinkles above the brows and even add more definition to your lips.

As PDO thread technology advances, we are learning even more exciting ways to use these collagen stimulating threads. Popular areas include the area under
st popular below-the-face requests include the area under the chin, which can be tightened with the suture technology, and the neck, which can be lifted.

Injectors and Doctors are also starting to use threads to subtle lift lax breasts as well as skin above the knees and on the upper arms. Because these threads increase collagen production, it can be a great alternative for tightening on the arms and knees (for the right patient).

Not everyone's skin or beauty goals make them the right candidate for this treatment. It is important to go to a Doctor experienced in thread lifts, as this is an advanced treatment which potential side effects when inserted improperly.

The Best Treatment for Skin Tightening on Your Arms

Posted by Silk Touch Medical Aesthetics on Jan 2, 2019 8:02:00 PM

Are you noticing wrinkly or loose skin under your arms or near your elbows? Why does it seem like the underside of our arms gets saggier/creepier skin than the rest of our skin? For women, one reason why it’s so apparent on the undersides of the arms is because of the hormonal changes after menopause. A drop in estrogen leads to less collagen production - which then thins the skin. Also if you have lost weight in your arms recently, thin skin becomes more noticeable in addition to laxity.

At Silk Touch, we have a few skin tightening treatments from lasers to surgical. However our favorite treatment for the area under the arms is ThermiTight. Thermight helps tighten the skin and incite new collagen growth. ThermiTight is an injectable RF treatment. During a minimally invasive procedure (often paired with arm lipo) radio frequency energy is delivered under the skin through tiny probes (you're numbed so you don't feel anything).

The treatment takes a few months to see full results as it has to jump start your collagen production first. Only one treatment is needed for optimal results.

Thermitight pairs great with liposuction as it can be done during the same procedure without adding a lot of time to your procedure, and no additional recovery time.

Does Microneedling Hurt?

Posted by Silk Touch Medical Aesthetics on Dec 18, 2018 8:03:00 PM

When it comes to new treatments - it's one of the first things we want to know - does it hurt? What will it feel like?It can be nerve wracking getting any new treatment, especially when you have no idea what to expect.

Microneedling is one that sounds a lot scarier than it actually is (it's not like "needling" sounds relaxing) The big question we always get is- Does Microneedling hurt?

before-and-after-microneedling-silktouch-med-spa-290x300

Does Microneedling Hurt During The Treatment?

The answer? Yes, WITHOUT numbing. But luckily with topical numbing cream the treatment is much more comfortable and at the worst mildly uncomfortable on more sensitive areas. Microneedling feels like a deep exfoliation, a little like sandpaper. It can also feel tingly/tickly from the vibrations of the needle.

Another thing that affects the pain tolerance is how DEEP or aggressive the treatment is. Microneedling depth is adjustable based on your skin type & overall treatment goals. More aggressive treatments are more painful, and have longer dowtime. But on the other side you results quicker and can treat more stubborn texture issues like scarring.

Does Microneedling Hurt After?

What does Microneedling feel like after your treatment is over and the numbing wears off? After a Microneedling treatment your skin will feel a little sensitive and tight, similar to a sunburn. Depending on the depth of your treatment, most redness and sensitivity disappears within 24-48 hours. With more superficial microneedling treatments patients can expect redness to disappear by the end of the day.

It's important to follow all post-treatment protocols given to you by your technician. This will help your skin heal faster as well as maximize your results.

Will Latisse Change My Eye Color?

Posted by Sara Barrett on Dec 4, 2018 12:27:00 PM

Who doesn’t want long, full and dark eyelashes? Most women we know sure desire those lashes that actually make you look younger! Sure, you could put 10 coats of mascara on to try to achieve that length, but ultimately you’ll just end up with a lumpy, clumpy mess. Ask any staff member here at Silk Touch how we get keep our lashes healthy and long and you will get the answer, “With Latisse, of course!”

If you’re not familiar with Latisse, it is a prescription treatment that helps eyelashes grow longer, thicker, and darker by applying a thin line of the product to the upper eyelid, at base of your eyelashes.

latisse

It is important to use Latisse as directed. It is a once-a-day topical medication to be applied directly above the upper lash line. Be sure to use a clean brush each time and don’t allow excess liquid to seep into your eye. With regular, daily use, full results are seen at 16 weeks, but noticeable growth is seen in as little as 8 weeks. When this medication is stopped, expect the appearance of the eyelashes to return to the way they looked before starting treatment.

Will Latisse change the color of my eyes?

NO!

The same ingredient in Latisse (bimatoprost ophthalmic solution), is in another Allergan product, Lumigan, used to treat glaucoma. For glaucoma patients, one to two drops of Lumigan are placed directly into the eye four to six times a day. That’s up to 12 times the amount used on the lashes with Latisse. Approximately one percent of glaucoma patients using the drops in their eyes experienced a darkening of the pigment of the iris. That is where the “buzz” about Latisse turning blue eyes brown started.

When the iris changed color in this small percentage of glaucoma patients, it did not magically happen overnight. Instead, the color slowly changed, starting around the edge of the pupil and moving outward.

So in theory, does Latisse have the potential to darken the iris? Theoretically yes, but in all the clinical trials for Latisse, no cases were ever reported.

5 Big Benefits of ThermiVa Female Rejuvenation

Posted by Silk Touch Medical Aesthetics on Nov 27, 2018 10:49:00 AM

For many women, childbirth, genetics, age or a combination of all three can change their vaginal anatomy. These changes are often unwelcome and can cause discomfort, both in day-to-day life and sexually. Thankfully there are ways to combat this problem through non-surgical vaginal rejuvenation. ThermiVa is a game changer when it comes to vaginal rejuvenation treatments. No pain, no downtime and its our treatment with the highest patient satisfaction, even after their first treatment.

Here are 5 Big Benefits To ThermiVa.

Non-surgical treatment

ThermiVa is a non-surgical treatment. This means there are no injections or incisions required. This is a big plus as many women are weary of having surgery performed on such an intimate part of their body. There is also no downtime with ThermiVa, making it a very convenient treatment that’s perfect for those with busy schedules.

Improved sexual stimulation

For some women, the tightening of vaginal tissue that ThermiVa provides also resulted in greater stimulation during intercourse. A lot of women seek out vaginal rejuvenation mostly due to poor sexual stimulation so this is a big benefit.

Improves Urinary Incontinence.

Do you sneeze when you pee? We can help with that! An often overlooked benefit of vaginal rejuvenation is that is can help with incontinence. Not all women who experience anatomical changes to their vagina suffer from incontinence, but for those who do, ThermiVa can be very effective at improving it.

Fast treatments

ThermiVa is a very fast treatment, with session typically lasting 30-45 minutes. This means you can get the treatment without having to prepare or take time off work. (Perfect for lunch breaks!) ThermiVa is done in a series of 3 treatments. And for some women, it’s recommended to get maintenance treatment once or twice per year in order to maintain the benefits.

Feel comfortable and confident with your body

While ThermiVa does have appearance benefits (tighten in and out) Feeling confident about your body isn’t just about improving areas that are visible. If you have noticed changes in your vaginal anatomy that are causing you discomfort or affect sexual performance then it can certainly affect your confidence in a negative way. This treatment can help restore your confidence and make you feel comfortable in your own skin again.

Ready to get started with your ThermiVa treatments or would like to learn more about whether this treatment is right for you? Call 208-939-3110 to schedule a free Consultation.
